This Saturday between 8:30 to 9:30 pm we are all encouraged to switch off all lights for EARTH HOUR in an effort to save the planet. In the lead up to Earth Hour, all week we are screening GREEN themed DVDs on the TV in the lounging area of the library. Students can borrow wireless headphones to listen to these DVDs while they are in the library. Come on in and have a look.
Five years ago, the World Wildlife Fund – Australia inspired the people of Sydney to show their support for climate change action in the very first Earth Hour. The event has grown exponentially and in 2011 was supported by over 5000 cities in 135 countries around the world! This year Earth Hour has launched the “I Will If You Will” campaign via YouTube to show how everyone can make a difference. If you want to get involved, head to the Earth Hour website by clicking on the logo on the right for more information on events around the world. So —- “What are you willing to do to save the planet?”
There are also two health issues being highlighted this week (26 – 30 March):
World Salt Awareness Week, which aims to increase the understanding of the health issues raised by a high salt diet. More info at www.awash.org.au/index.html
Wound Awareness Week, which is designed to raise public and professional awareness of issues and approaches to wound management, best practice in wound management and where the public can go for help. More info at www.awma.com.au/pages/wac.php
